The British newspaper The Independant reports that the Bahraini government infiltrated its country’s health care system in order to torture wounded protesters. One of the most well-respected humanitarian organisations, Doctor’s Without Borders, corroborated these claims by alleging that security forces with loyalties to King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa not only systematically beat patients, but also tortured the doctors and nurses who cared for those suspected of participating in rallies.
