Out of a firm belief that the torture of terrorism suspects significantly weakens the United States’ counterterrorism operations and undermines its national security, members of a non-partisan group of forty retired generals and admirals addressed a letter to Senators Carl Levin and John McCain. The group asked the Senators to oppose certain provisions to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), including the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques.” Read the letter.
